WIP Wednesday – Hummingbird Punch Needle Kit

IMG_7173I got my ‘rug yarn punch needle’ yesterday. So, I got busy last night and prepared my ‘Hummingbird Punch Needle Kit’ to be worked on…
(because we all know that a crafter can’t have too many projects going on at the same time. 😉 )

I figure it’s going to take me awhile to make the piece. I still have to learn to punch evenly. The finished size of it is supposed to be about 12 x 12 inches. I’m planning on trying to make a throw pillow out of it.

I’ll post updates as I go along.

But for today, this first post is the set up and preparation for punching. 😉

IMG_7125Here’s all the stuff in the kit
along with my new punch needle.

IMG_7136The pre-printed fabric square is too small
for my huge embroidery hoop.

IMG_7152I sewed strips of fabric on the fabric square and
made a border so it would fit my embroidery hoop.

IMG_7163I put masking tape around the
edge of the fabric so it wouldn’t fray.

IMG_7167I set the Hummingbird square in my hoop
and it now the piece is ready to be worked.

Wish me luck on learning to do
this punch needle craft.

🙂

I’m wishing you all a pleasant rest of the week.
🙂

  1. I’m sure you’ll do a wonderful job on working this design. I’ve used extra fabric around my doll quilts to make them fit a circular hoop.

E.C. I don’t know how to become a follower of your blog. Am I overlooking something?

    • Thanks Charlotte
I learned about temporary borders for embroidery hoops when I was in the 7th grade. Oh the early years of embroidery. There’s no telling how many palm trees and apples and flowers and smiley faces I embroidered in the early 70’s. Gosh we were so cool. lol

Oops sorry about that. I forgot to put a Subscription follow box in my sidebar. So I just added it. If you sign up and I configured it right, hopefully you’ll received updates by email.
      Thanks so much
      🙂
