Yesterday evening I noticed a little male hummingbird sitting very still on our hummingbird feeder. Every few minutes he’d take a sip and then sit still again. He stayed on the feeder for over 30 minutes.
We worried he was sick or hurt. Thankfully when the sun set he flew away and seemed to be in fine health. We figure the little guy may have gotten exhausted from the heat of the day and needed to feed and rest to build his energy back up.
He sure was a cutie.
I hope you all have a pleasant weekend.
.
Or maybe he is still migrating and had a long flight to get there! Ours aren’t here yet, but your photo makes me know that summer and hummers are on their way!

Hey SalPal
You may be right about that. We figure the hummingbirds have food stops they visit every year on their way home. So it could very well be.
I hope you have many hummers very soon. 🙂

I hope so too, but it is still too cold for the little fellows. So they should stay at your feeders for a few more weeks!

Hey Salpal,
We’ll fatten them up for the journey to your part of the continent. It’s so neat how the wee ones make such a long journey twice a year, every year. 🙂

It is amazing how the little fellows do it! I hung up our feeder after reading your post. No one has been to it yet, but I know they will be here soon.

I was so happy to see the first guy! I don’t know what he would eat if not at the feeder, no flowers yet! Though the quince is close, it has some fat buds.

Hey SalPal
It may have been a sad thing for the hummingbird if you hadn’t put the feeder up. You did good. 🙂

It’s a joy to feed the wee ones. They’ve blessed us by feeding at the feeders.
I hope your week is wonderful one. 🙂

How sweet! We put a couple feeders out every year and the hummingbirds love to come and just hang out. They will sit and look around for 15-20 minutes at a time sometimes. They are so inquisitive! One once got within a couple inches of Rascal’s face, tilting its head side to side looking at her. I have had them do the same to me sometimes too. I think they get just as curious about us as we are about them!

It’s amazing how curious the hummingbirds are. They check out anything or anyone from time to time.
Aw that’s precious memory of Rascal and the hummingbird. It sounds like two angels acknowledging each other. 😀

Thanks Ginny,
I often think of the hummingbirds as wee angels flitter about, blessing us with their presence. 🙂
