There’s a new fawn in the neighborhood. I was able to get a photo of it and its Mom. They’re so pretty.

Our tomatoes are finally ripening in larger numbers. We like the Roma variety quite well. We eat them like regular tomatoes. They also make delicious juice.Now that our tomatoes are coming in, our squash is coming to an end.Our garden is pretty much at an end. My husband mowed everything down except the tomato, squash and cucumber plants.

I’ve always wanted a ‘Rose of Sharon’, I was delighted Friday when my husband surprised me with a lovely white one.
Saturday, we went for a ride and found a garden center that was having a 50% to 75% off the shrubs. We bought 2 crepe myrtles, a pink rose of sharon and 2 garden phlox.Sunday evening, We transplanted the shrubs in the yard. I’m in high hopes they’ll thrive and bloom and attract more butterflies. We’re happy to have lucked up on such a good deal.

  1. So sad to mow over the garden, but you have eaten well this summer! Romas make great sauce and canning tomatoes, too. 🙂

    your newest “grandfawn” is so beautiful! I haven’t seen any in our woods yet, but it won’t be long.

    Lovely shrubs. End of season sales are great, because end of season is the best time to plant shrubs! Your yard will be so pretty, and butterflies and hummingbirds will be thrilled with the new additions.

      The end of gardening season is a bittersweet time for us.
      I like that *grandfawn* Thanks for that, you made me smile. I hope you’ll being seeing your *grandfawns* soon too.
      It’s rare when we catch a good sale like that, so it was a real treat to get the shrubs at a great price. 🙂

      • We have one little girl whovtravels about alone. I expect her companions got lost or were slow. But I know if a boy spots her she will have a baby or two . She doesn’t look pregnant, though. There are a few other clans roaming about that may have babies soon though. I will keep my eyes peeled.

          One thing’s for sure when deer find each other and herd up they make more deer. I hope you have many sightings of the majestic beauties and their cute babies. 🙂

      Our crops are always ahead of most of the folks in our area. Our garden is usually a month or two mowed down by the time other folks gardens play out for the season. I guess we get in a hurry for fresh veggies after the Winter time and plant as soon as we think the plants will survive.

      I agree. It does seem like our gardening season went fast. I’m glad we’re still getting tomatoes and squash, but I miss the other fresh veggies.
      I’ve enjoyed my butterfly adventures. I’ll be posting more about them soon. 😀

  4. Beautiful deer. Love that Rose of Sharon, too. You made out like a bandit with all those plants, usually by the time they are that price, they don’t look so nice.

      There’s quite a few more deer around here now. There’s 2 fawns that have been romping about the yard. I wish I could get them together in a photo, but they are so fast.
      The Rose of Sharon and Crepe Myrtles are doing great. Only one of the Garden Phlox has survived. I wish we could happen up on another great sale of healthy plants like that. 🙂
