I was happy to see a Snowberry Clear Wing Hummingbird Moth feeding on my flowers. It’s quite a rare moth to see in my yard/garden. I tried to get some good photos of it to share, but it didn’t cooperate and most of them are blurry.
I have some photos from the first one of these I saw was in July of 2011. I felt special when it rested on a leaf like it was posing for me. I had shared these on my old enjoyingcreating blog in 2011. I figure it’s been 4 years and it’s okay for me to share them once again.
Great photos. I have seen a hummingbird moth a few times but they didn’t stay long enough for me to get any photos.

We have quite a few of these moths around here, I love seeing them but they are so difficult to photograph! They are so quick and don’t like to stay still long. 🙂

Hi CW
I agree, I’m fortunate I was able to get any clear photos. I enjoying watching them flitting about like hummingbirds. It’s really neat. 🙂

I remember the first time I saw one of these on a trumpet vine–crawled right inside the blossom. I thought it was the biggest bee I’d ever seen! LOL How nice of it to hold still for you!

lol Patti,
Truly it would be easy to mistake these for huge bees. The first one I remember seeing is the one in the photos from 2011. I’m glad I took photos of them and looked them up online instead of squishing them, maybe that’s why that one decided to pose for me out of gratitude. lol 🙂
