Shelibean Our Bye-Bye Boy

Our handsome little Shelibean gets super excited when I ask him if he wants to go bye-bye. He’ll dance around, until we scoop him up and leave. He really enjoys going for rides.
When he was younger, he absolutely hated rides. He would howl, bark and whine the entire time we would take him anywhere, no matter the length of the journey. Front seat, back seat or kennel it did not matter, he was not a happy passenger.
Then I started sitting him on a towel on the center console. He didn’t fuss as much and now he sits there quite nicely.
However,
We realized that just sitting him there, wouldn’t be the safest thing if there was an accident. So we figured it was time to get him a car seat.
We originally were going to make one ourselves, then I was shopping online and found a ready-made one for a reasonable price.
I took it out of the box and began to set it up. Shelibean claimed it before I could even zip up the front flap.
He snuggled down in it, so I left him there to take a nice long a nap. He was so cute all curled up like a sweet baby.
The car seat installed easily with straps that wrap around the console compartment lid. I placed Sheli in it and he proudly sit up like it was his throne.
What I like about this seat, is it, hopefully, protects Sheli better. It also has a lead that can attach to his collar to restrain him when need be.
Now when we go for a ride, SheliBean is the King of the car sitting in his throne being the handsome Alpha-dog he is.

So this is the last day of November. We haven’t put up one solitary decoration yet. It feels kind of strange not to already have out tree up. We’re having some work done on the house soon and we’d have to move the decor out of the way. Hopefully, if the weather behaves, the work will be done and finished mid-December.
And then the decorating madness can begin. 😍

I hope y’all are happily making plans and looking forward to the upcoming holidays.

2020 Garden Update & Shelibean’s Good Attitude

Sheli’s photo expresses how life has been going around my home… And I’m guessing it may be the way life is going for some other folks homes as well.
I wish you all the best of health and happiness. Big hugs to you all!

We got most of our garden planted over the past few weeks. We’ve still got a few things to go. It helps, to add cheer to our life, walking to the garden and seeing the plants growing with a promise of veggies to come… or a promise of watching deer and bunnies feasting on our plants. 😉
Happy gardening!

Stormy Wednesday – Shelibean – Mr. & Mrs. Cardinal

We’re in the midst of storms. It storms awhile and then stops awhile then repeats. I appreciate the rain, but the glay-gloomy cloud cover not so much. The thunder clashing, lightning flashing, rain pounding and the electricity flicking off and on just ruins Shelibean’s day. He sports his thunder-shirt and lays under a blanket as close to me as he can get. Bless his heart.

Here’s a photo of Sheli in his thunder-shirt that I took earlier this month. He was acting unsettled that day and I put his t-shirt on him and it calmed him. His thunder shirt is a neck tube with two slits cut for his front legs and a u shaped dip cut out from the bottom side to keep him getting it wet when he tinkles. As you can see, it’s a little big in the neck area and hangs low, but Sheli doesn’t seem to mind and it still serves the purpose. Shelibean’s home-fashioned thunder shirt has been a big help in keeping him more calm when he gets scared or unsettled. Here’s a few photos of a bright and fun couple that visits my herb bed alot. I think they’re cheerful bits of color to share on this gray gloomy day.

Wishing you all a cheerful Wednesday.

2017 WordPress Photo Challenge – Cheeky – Tick-Tock

This is a clock my mil gave us for Christmas way back in the early 1980’s. It’s been a wonderful clock over the decades. The only maintenance is requires is changing the battery every year or so (well other than re-setting when we spring forward or fall back.)
We are in such a habit of looking at this clock for the time, that when we moved it, along with the corner curio cabinet that it set on, to another room, we still looked for the clock. It took less than 24 hours for us to have a corner shelf put up and the clock back in its corner spot. We shared a good laugh over it.
This clock makes a pleasant little tick-tock sound produced by a swinging pendulum. It’s a sound that we live with and never pay much attention too.
This morning at 9:39 am Shelibean sounded his alarm of barking and running around the living room. Looked around and couldn’t see anything amiss. I looked outside and didn’t see anyone around the house. I told Sheli, “There’s nothing wrong.” Kind of odd, but Sheli calmed down and I went on about my day.
A few hours later, I glanced at the clock in the corner and noticed it was still 9:39 am and it had stopped. It was time to change batteries.
It took a moment for me to realize that the stopped time was when Sheli had sounded his alarm. He had been alerting me that the tick-tock sound had stopped.
I changed the battery under Sheli’s watchful eyes. When the tick-tock started again, he curled up on the couch and went to sleep. The world here at home sounded right again.
I’m proud of Sheli for being so in tuned with our environment that even a missing small tick-tock of a clock is something that was important enough to let me know. I wish I was smart enough to have figured it out at the time he alerted me.

Our pets must just shake their heads sometimes and wonder who should really be in charge.I suspect Shelibean was feeling a little bit cheeky about being right.

Crocheted Sweater for Sheli

Shelibean is a nudist. He hates wearing store-bought clothes and sweaters. Since we rarely take him outside in the winter-time, it’s not an issue. However, I still want him to have a sweater when we do take him outside. And it’d be a big bonus if he is content in it.
It occured to me that he enjoys my crocheted collars and blankets that I make for him, so maybe, just maybe, he’d might be more content in a sweater I crocheted.
Starting early this morning, I set about crocheting him a sweater. It went together easier than I thought it would. I can’t believe I actually got it finished.I don’t have a pattern, so for the length and the width I kind of went by a store bought sweater. The store bought sweater just has slits where his front legs go,  but I decided to put sleeves in it to try and keep him a bit warmer.
I think the sweater turned out pretty good.
I think Sheli looks adorable in his new sweater.
He seems to like it quite well.
He strutted around the house in it and acted happy.

Sending out warm thoughts and snuggles to your pets.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Happy 5th Birthday Sheli-bean!

The top news for the week is that today is Sheli-bean’s 5th birthday. I tried to take a new photo of him to post for today, but he’s having no part of it. He thinks since it’s his birthday that he should be able to choose if he’s photographed or not. Mmm, I had to agree with him. So here’s a photo I took of him awhile back when I caught him sitting on one of our end tables. He’s such a funny boy sometimes. I decorated it a bit to celebrate his special day.

My dear sweet Sheli, we love you so very much. You’re a wonderful part of our hearts and a special part of our family. Thank you for being our wonderful bossy adorable little boy. You always cheer us up when we’re down and give us many smiles every day. Thank you so very much.

Brilliant Bunny Greg

This brilliant bunny rabbit is Greg. His human Mom has taught him to walk on a leash. She and her Grandma sometimes takes Greg to the park for a walk.
Greg’s human Mom has always amazed me with being wonderful with all animals. I suspect she’ll be a veterinarian someday.

When I heard about Greg walking on a leash, I wanted to post a photo of him on my blog. I was so happy that they shared these charming photos with me to share with you all.
I send happy heart-filled thanks to Greg’s Human Mom and her Grandma.

Wishing you all a wonderful Wednesday!

2017 WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge
~Shadow~

“This week, grab your camera and capture a shadow.”
~*~

7-25-2013I couldn’t take a shadow photo this week. So, I went through my old
photo files and picked out one from 2013 of Shelibean, his shadow
and the shadow of some flowers I was growing on the porch.
I hope it’ll do okay for the weekly challenge.

Wishing you all fun with the WP photo challenge!

WIP Wednesday – New Blankets for Shelibean

When Shelibean first came to join our family, I discovered that he loved crocheted blankets. I crocheted him 4 simple little blankets. I used Red heart yarn that I had bought several years before. It was even the last of the yarn. I was happy to use it up. Crocheting Sheli the blankets restarted my love of crochet and yarn crafting in general. The blankets have held up really well even though I wash them alot. I figure they’ll last for a few more years.8-15-2012-sb

It’s been 4 1/2 years since I made the blankets. I thought Sheli might enjoy some new ones.  I use a simple granny square pattern. The blankets work up quite fast. I plan to make 3 (maybe more)
Wednesday-work-in-progress 2 down 1 to go.2-8-2017-sb

Shelibean’s enjoying the first 2 blankets so much the he lay still while I took his handsome photo.

Wishing you all progress in your
works-in-progress, whatever they may be.
