2018 WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge – Growth – Herbs

2018 WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge
~Growth~
Evoke the excitement of entering a new year
with a photo that shows growth

Right now it’s so cold in our region that the only thing that’s showing any growth around my home is one of my basil plants. I transplanted them from my herb bed last fall to a container to set on the window sill. I’m surprised one of them is doing so well. I haven’t had the heart to use it yet, but it’s just now finally tall enough to use. I’m going to start using a few of it’s leaves for seasoning food sometime soon.

Below is a photo I used in the WordPress Weekly Challenge last August for Textures.
The healthy growth of my herb bed evokes the excitement of the promise of a new gardening season in this new year .

2017 WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge – Temporary

2017 WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge
~Temporary~

“This week, show us something you appreciate
despite —or even because of — its short shelf life.”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I appreciate snow and icicles as long as they’re temporary.
We haven’t had a major snowfall in awhile, so
I went through my photos in search of snow and ice.
These 2 photos are a couple of my favorites from 2010.

2017 WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge – Screech is Waiting for Spring

2017 WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge
~Waiting~

“ Share a snapshot that shows a sense of waiting. ”
Screech has his feathers back now and is as handsome as ever.
The Summer’s almost over,
Screech’s duties to the nest are over for this year.
Once again he’s returned to our barn for resting
and waiting until the next Spring nesting season.

2017 WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge – Textures – Herbs

2017 WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge
~Textures~

“ We consume photos through our eyes,
but that doesn’t mean they can’t have a tactile element, too. ”There’s several textures of different varieties of herbs.
velvet soft common sage, spikey onion chives,
wispy fennel, spoon leaves of basil, candy-leaf stevia
needle-like leaves of lavender & rosemary.

and of course the herb bed itself has textures,
Soft marigold petals & fragrant fronds,
hard resin birdbath filled with cool water,
smooth cool concrete stepping stones,
coarse limestone rocks, gritty potting soil,
rough landscaping logs,

the bed surrounded by a carpet of grass
