Taking pictures in the garden is one of the extra joys of gardening. It also helps me to see the health of the plants/vines.
As I was taking photos of my squash I saw an adult Squash Vine Borer. I was not happy about it. Fortunately, I had on my handy-dandy plastic gloves and was able to grab the demon bug and dispatch of her in short measure. This, I might add, is quite a feat, since these particular pests are fast. Thankfully she hadn’t laid an egg.
In my opinion, the SVB is one of the most vicious pests in the garden because it’s almost impossible to do anything about them.
And so the battle begins…
In 2015, I wrote about a SVB grub that showed up in a squash stem I had harvested.
Here’s a link to that post ‘Evil Demon Squash Vine Borer Grub’
Here’s wishing you a season free of garden pests.
