Lucy in pink – finished my hat

I bought Lucy a pink fuzzy warm suit and some pink snow-booties, in case the forecasted snowstorm comes and she wants to go outside to play. Unfortunately, she runs too fast to keep her booties on and slings them off. You can tell from the photo that her pink suit in a bit short for her long legs, but it will do, I think.
I finished crocheting my hat. It’s really warm and it will be a big help if we get any of the forecasted monster ice or snow.

I thought I’d pop in and say “howdy” in case a snow or ice storm hits and we lose our internet.

Sending you all wishes for a safe and warm rest of the week.

Finished My Hat

I’m happy to tell you that I’ve finished making my hat. It turned out quite well, even though I made the pattern myself.
Unfortunately, the hat is way too small for my head. I realized before I added the lining that it’s way too small. It’s definitely kid sized. I totally underestimated how big my head is. 😀
My husband suggested that I should have stopped this one and tossed it and started a different bigger one.
I told him that, I would have, but I’d have to make a bigger pattern and also, I was determined to finish this one, since I promised I’d post about it here on my blog, regardless of how it turned out.
Other than being way too small, my only other issue with it, is the inside lining isn’t as neat as I’d like it to be.
I may or may not make another hat. I’d like too. I enjoyed making this one very much. However, if I do, I might go ahead and order a pattern instead of making a pattern, or not, I never know about me, until the inspiration hits. 😊

Wishing you all a weekend of sunshine and smiles.
🌞😎

Hat-Makings

I thought I’d give a try at making a hat by making my own pattern. I could have ordered a pattern, but that would be too convenient. 😊
The basic idea of how to make a pattern has been on my mind for a while now. Since I’m not working on nor planning a big project at the moment, I thought it was a good time to try my hat idea. I’ve got the hat-makings cut out and ready to sew together. After I get it made, I’ll post its final outcome good or bad. 🧵🪡

Wishing you all a beautiful sunshine filled rest of the week!

You know it’s cold when…

Iris the Lavender Leopard Gecko says,
“It’s cold out,
Think I’ll put on a hat!”

I feel sorry for my Bff and her family and their pets. They’re pretty much snow and iced under where she lives. It’ll probably be into next week before they’re melted out enough to get back to normal life again.
The above photo is compliments of my Bff, it’s her grandchild’s gecko named Iris.
I smile every time I look at this fun photo. I think, you know it’s cold when a gecko in a heated terrarium puts on a hat. 😉

Here in my neck-of-the-woods, it’s a toasty 18°. The sun is shining and the sky is clear and blue. The snow is melting some on the roads and in the yard but not in the shade. It appears our thaw has started, perhaps we are headed for warmer weather for awhile. Perhaps…

Wishing you all blue skies and sunshine
and a warm thawing rest of the week.

7-1-2016 Garden Update & Misc

P1030246The asparagus beans have done well so far this year growing/running up the decorative corn and the twine. However, next year we plan to plant the asparagus beans in a row of their own and make a trellis for them to run on. It’s awfully crowded in the corn rows now that both are maturing and fully leafed out.
P1030402Our decorative corn stalks are getting their-ears-on. We’re hoping the deer doesn’t decide to sample the ears before they mature and we can harvest some.P1030450We’ve been getting only a few regular green beans compliments of the deer. There’s wasn’t enough for a mess to cook or freeze, so we broke them up with the asparagus beans and froze them all together. We froze 4 1/2 quarts of asparagus/green beans. I think that’s pretty good. We’re already looking forward to cooking them. 😉

P1030375My 50+ bell pepper plants are beginning to put on fruit. I figure by the end of the month we’ll be covered in colorful bell peppers. I’ll be freezing them for soups, stir fries and other tasty dishes. If most of the plants put on fruit, I’ll probably be giving oodles of them away.

00I added a much needed set of new screwdrivers to my tool collection. My husband is enjoying helping me fill my toolbox with new tools. I like having my toolbox of tools here in the house ready to use anytime day or night. I don’t know why I didn’t think to get my own set of tools decades ago.

P1030394aI made a stacked tuna salad and it was so pretty I thought I’d share a photo of it.
A stacked tuna salad is layers as follows:
crushed corn chips,
tuna salad
chopped tomatoes
shredded mix cheese
with a cherry tomato on the top

P1030279The walnut tree is loaded heavy this year. My husband had to cut some of the heavily ladened limbs off. They were hanging low over the driveway and could do damage to our vehicles when they dropped walnuts or if the wind caused them to break.
I’ve always heard that a bountiful season for the nut trees means an extra cold winter. I truly hope not…

P1020348t09017Just in case the walnut tree is predicting some bad winter weather,
I got busy and made me a new hat on my green Boye knitting loom. Hey, it never hurts to be prepared.

Happy July 1st to you all!
It’s hard to believe half of 2016 has passed already.
Have a safe and fun filled weekend!
I wish you all a wonderful July full of blogging & smiles.ec-sunny
