Redwork block 4 – patches

11-7-2013rwI drew this picture of patches thinking about when I was a little girl perhaps 7 or 8 years old, I had a pair of soft light pink knee-high socks that I absolutely loved. I wore them so much that I wore the heals out of them. Mom sit down with a couple small pieces of soft plaid material and patched the heals of my socks. I was so excited and happy. I wore them until they were so thread bare that Mom finally threw them away.

Wishing you all joy & success in crafting.

Redwork block 3 – fishbowl

11-6-2013rwThis little fishy in a fishbowl, I drew with sweet memories of when I was a child and won a goldfish with a bowl at the fair. I sure loved my goldfish and the joy of winning it on my own made me feel so grown up. lol Seriously, it was amazing how many of the ping pong balls bounced over the bowls of water. Year after year, we’d go to the fair and one of us kids would always bring home one or two goldfish that we’d win.  After a week or so, we would put them in a gallon jar or our aquarium. Some of the goldfish lived for a couple years in our little farm pond.

Wishing you all joy & success in crafting.

Redwork block 2 – butterfly

11-5-2013rw
A lot of my pictures are snippets from memories. To me my butterfly is reminiscent of the butterfly designs that were so popular back in the early/mid-70’s.
I remember earrings, necklaces, key-chains, bracelets, Tee-shirts, notebooks, posters, decals, embroidery patterns & other groovy stuff donning butterflies. 😉

Wishing you all joy & success in crafting.

Redwork block 1 – cat face

11-4-2013rwI’m using one large piece of white fabric that I’ve sectioned off in 10 inch blocks. I did this because I intend to try to dye the blocks a light beige with rit-dye and hopefully it’ll resemble an aged fabric or a tea-dyed fabric. I think the large piece of fabric will be a more even dye and easier to handle.IMG_5665I’m using pictures drawn by me. Hopefully, I’ll be posting a redwork picture a day during the week. I’m hoping I can stay on task until I get them all finished. However with the holidays approaching, I may have to set it aside some days.

I hope you’ll surf by from time-to-time and check on my progress.

Wishing you all joy & success in crafting.

Redwork & an Owl

IMG_5665
Hello everyone, I’m E.C., I quit blogging last summer to take care of offline things for awhile.
I closed my blog called ‘Enjoying Creating’ and deleted it and all my blog posts.
I did it because it bothers me when I visit blogs that haven’t been active in a long time and I didn’t want my readers & blogging buddies to go through a long stalled idle time with my blog.

I missed blogging and I missed my blogging buddies, but now I’m back. It’ll probably take me a bit to get back in the swing of blogging. Hopefully with this new blog home, slowly but surely I can make it an enjoyable place to visit for years to come.

One of the reasons I’m opening a new blog is to keep up with my crafts again. At the moment, I’m going to post my progress on my redwork embroidery throw. I plan to start tomorrow and post a photo of a block each day. I’m hoping to have the throw finished by Christmas. I was inspired to make this throw when I was visiting my blogging buddy’s blog ‘EMZ-Piney Post‘  Charlotte’s very talented in quilting, embroidery, sewing, farming and many other wonderful things. I had never heard of Redwork until I saw it on her blog. I love the idea of only using one color.  It’s quite enjoyable. I send big thanks out to Charlotte. 🙂

who-2013
Last month or so this handsome character moved into our barn. It’s a screech owl, but we don’t know if it’s male or female. My husband has named it Screech. We try to stay out of the barn as much as possible because we don’t want to scare it off. When we have to make a trip into the barn, Screech swivels his head and watches us. We’re so happy to have him/her staying in our barn. We hope it’s visit will be for a long time to come.

It’s Sunday, November 3, 2013 and the first day of ‘Falling Back’ and hour. My dear hubby took care of resetting the manual clocks. I’m glad because I had forgotten about it. 😉

I guess this is all for me at the moment.
Welcome to my new blog.
Thanks for dropping by.
Leave me a comment and let me know you stopped by.
