I’m starting this lovely cross stitch titled ‘Joy In The Journey’. I bought it a year or so ago. Since I enjoyed doing the ‘Cardinal Cross Stitch Hanger’ cross stitch I thought I’d give this a try.
I plan to post my updates of any noticeable progress I make on it.
Here’s what I’ve done so far:
Using my sewing machine, I zig zagged around the edges of the cross stitch cloth so it wouldn’t ravel out.
The fabric had some major creases, so I soaked it in cold soapy water, rinsed it, rung it out rolled up in a towel and ironed it dry.
To find the center, I measured with 2 measuring sticks and made a tiny stitch in the middle mark.
I mounted the cross stitch cloth on a frame with legs that I made out of pvc pipe and pvc joints.
I cross stitched two middle rows of the pattern.
And now my project waits until I’m ready to work on it some more.
I hope your week is going well.
Happy crafting!

This pinecone is painted green and decorated with aluminum foil balls and garland. My Grandson suggested that it needed glitter to make it more festive. I used oodles of glitter and also glitter paint on it. Apparently, my glitter and the glitter are both light weight versions because they don’t show up as well as they should for as much as I used. The tree base is a bag made with bakeable bread clay. I baked it and coated it with modpodge. I added a stretchy silver ribbon to finish it.

I sculpted the bag base from homemade bakeable bread clay. I painted it with ‘Apple Barrel’ paint and a coat of mod-podge. I hot-glued the pinecone tree to the bread-clay bag base. I tied a piece of red yarn around the bag for a bow.
I like the design pretty well. It’s different because depending on where you’re sitting determines which tree you see… unless you put it on a rotating base.
