Whimsical Nature Wednesday – Sundog

One of my favorite atmospheric phenomenon is a Sundog.
A sundog is a magnificent bright spot in the clouds beside the sun.
Here’s a few photos of one that was in our skies October 1, 2017.P1230739

Chocolate Ice Cream Bread

chocolatebread1Well, here it is ‘Chocolate Ice Cream Bread’.
It tastes like a cross between a brownie and a chocolate cake.
chocolatebread2I’m happy that I’ve tried all 3 flavors in the Neapolitan ice cream.
It’s an easy recipe and bakes up beautifully.

Wishing you all fun with creative cooking.

*I used a small batter made like my basic ‘Boiled Custard Bread’ recipe.
Use melted ice cream instead of boiled custard.
Add flour a little at a time to the melted ice cream until the batter is a creamy consistency.
If you get the batter too thick, thin it with a little bit of water.

Strawberry Ice Cream Bread

P1050425Well, it was bound to happen, that’s right, I made ‘Strawberry Ice Cream Bread’. One can only bake around with vanilla ice cream or custard for so long before the other flavors become too tempting not to try too.

I had been playing with the idea to use strawberry or chocolate ice cream to make some ice cream bread. I mentioned it to my supportive & wonderful husband and he went out and brought home a gallon of neopolitan ice cream.

P1050416I made a small loaf of strawberry ice cream bread. I’m so amazed how this bread can rise so lovely and come out of the pan without sticking. The strawberry bread has great texture and wonderful taste. I love the pretty color too.

This was such fun to try. Now next up is chocolate. I hope it does as well. I’ll let you know.

Happy creating!

Puppy’s got a brand new bag

7-2-2016-toolpupyMy husband brought home a new tool bag. When he set it on the floor, Sheli climbed in it like he was staking claim to the new bag.
My husband couldn’t resist picking the bag up to see if Sheli would stay in and I couldn’t resist taking a photo.
Sheli was quite content to stay in the bag, but quickly hopped out of when my husband set it back on the floor.

Pets gotta love ’em.

Caterpillar Burger

We rarely have hotdogs and we had some leftover from the weekend. I decided to cook a hotdog for my lunch. I didn’t have any hotdog buns though. I had only hamburger buns. I wasn’t in the mood to use loaf bread for my hotdog bun and I almost decided not to cook one…
Then I remembered how we used to have quite a bit of fun making hotdog-burgers when I was a little girl. It was such a fun idea and the memories of those days of yore brought a smile to my heart.

*I changed the name of my hotdog-burger to ‘Caterpillar Burger’. Back in 2012, my blogging buddy Tina suggested it and that’s what I’ve called it ever since. Thanks Tina! 🙂

Here’s a set of pictures I took, as I fixed the hotdog,
to share with you, in case you may want to do this too.Down the length of the hotdog, carefully
cut slits a bit more than halfway through.
Place the hotdog in a pan of water
on the stove at med high heat.
Heat water to a full rolling boil.Allow it to boil for a few minutes until
the hotdog bends as far as it seems it will.
Carefully remove hotdog from pan of water
and allow to drain on a paper towel or cloth. If need be, Carefully, bend the hotdog into a circle.
Place hotdog on a hamburger bun. You can enjoy it like this or go to the next step.
Place a slice of cheese on top of the hotdog. You can enjoy it like this or go to the next step.
Place bun on a microwavable safe dish,
microwave for a few seconds until the
cheese is just melted over the hotdog. Allow the hotdog to set until
it’s cool enough to safely eat.

Add chili, mustard or ketchup or
your favorite relish and enjoy.

Tah-dah! And there you have it folks a ‘Caterpillar Burger’.

Happy Creative Cooking!

*I don’t know if microwaved hotdogs will cook and bend in a circle, I’ve never tried them.
