Random 5 For Friday
I’ve a new knitting loom project in the works. I hope to get it finished soon. Here’s a sneak peak.
I bought a sunflower mat and butterfly flowers from the fundraiser my niece’s sorority was having. I wish it was warm enough to get these darlings growing, but that’ll be a couple months from now. 
The freezing snap we had this past weekend bit our pear tree blossoms and made them start turning brown. The pear trees are usually so pretty with their dainty white blooms, but this year, they’re sad looking.
It’s warmed up a smidge here, it’s a dreary, rainy 42°. We’ve had so much rain that even the daffodils look sad.
Earlier this week we had internet trouble. We bought a new router and thought that would fix the issues. Well, it did for about 24 hours then the issues returned worse than before.
I picked up our home phone to call internet support and was met with a shrill squelch and loud static. I checked our other house phone lines and they were dead.
I thanked the good Lord above for my handy-dandy mobile phone and then called the phone company and reported the issues.
They sent out a service guy and he discovered that our phone trouble was caused by line issues down-the-road-a-ways. It took 3 service people a few hours to fix the landline.
Our phone works great and the internet is faster than ever… Yep, you guessed it, we didn’t need a new router. However, since our other router was 4 years old, we decided to keep the new one. We’ll hang on to the old one for back-up.

Nextbook Flexx 8.9 – disappointment
A couple weeks ago, I bought a Nextbook Flexx 8.9 2-in-1 Tablet. I didn’t really need it, but it had two prime selling points, one was the price of $89.00 and the other was that it has Windows 10. I’d been wanting a tablet with Windows on it because I didn’t have one. Nextbook Flexx 8.9 has 32 GB of storage, but there’s only around 17.8 GB available after Windows does it’s thing right-off-the-bat. However, I thought that’d be enough since the storage can be expanded with a 64 GB SD card.
I absolutely loved the Nextbook Flexx 8.9, even after it kept updating and only left 12 GB of storage. I figured that was plenty. It was a sweet little device. Using it as a tablet or a mini laptop was fun. I was careful and didn’t put any files on it except for my homepage files which are only 1.2 mb. I used the sd card for photos and stuff.
Over the 13 days that I had it, it continued to update again and again until there was only a little over 8 GB free. I was so mad. I did a factory reset and put it in it’s box and returned it. I’m trying hard not to say something very unladylike about windows. ~stomps foot~
We have a couple Nextbook Ares 7 and we’ve put apps, games, photos, nook books, documents and some other things on them and their storage is holding up just fine; we still have 25 GB free of the original 32 GB after almost a year. That’s one of the biggest differences between the OS of an Android and Windows. Windows greedy os is really a bummer.
I’m sad that Windows started hogging my storage. I’m posting about my negative experience in case someone was in the market for a Nextbook Flexx 8.9, they might want to consider the storage situation.
I really would have loved to have kept the Nextbook Flexx 8.9, but the storage issue is an automatic game changer for me. I wish the 32 GB storage could’ve actually been the true amount and the Windows OS had it’s own storage amount separate from the 32 GB. (That’s the way it should be imo.)
Anyway, I’m glad I tried the Nextbook Flexx 8.9. I had fun with it for a short while.
Have you had this experience with storage being hogged up by the OS and it’s updates on a new device?
Did you return the device or trade it for a bigger one?
Internet issues update – quilt post plans
Our internet & phone issues worsened over the past few days.
Today we had the tech-guy visit and fix everything (hopefully).
He even sped our internet up a bit.
Hopefully, we’re ready for smooth surfing ahead.

There’s been some interest in the quilt in the photo with Sheli & my s-loom. I’m going to make 3 posts about the quilt. The posts will be re-post from my ex-blog enjoyingcreating. Some of the content will be updated or edited as needed.
The first post will be about my method of coffee dying one of the appliques.
The second will be the story behind the quilt.
The third one will be the quilting of the quilt on my sewing machine.
I’ll start posting my quilt posts soon… Unless my internet goes down or offline life needs my undivided attention…

Issues with commenting

Over the past week or so, I’ve read blogs that mention
they’re having issues with posting comments too.
So, it’s not just me.
I hope WordPress resolves the issues soon.
I’m still able to ‘Like’, so that’s a positive.
