Baby Deer Growing Strong

IMG_6160I opened the kitchen blinds this morning and saw Mama & Baby Deer out where the garden used to be. (My husband mowed the garden down flat the other day.) Baby was posed to pretty. I don’t know what it was watching.

IMG_6176I started clicking off pictures through the kitchen window. The quality isn’t great, but I sure do enjoy having these to share with you so you can see how well Baby is growing.

They stayed around the garden for a little bit and then walked down the yard. I manage to get a fair photo of them near our porch.famdy

Here’s wishing you all a lovely weekend
full of smiles and sunshine.

Foxy Wildlife Wednesday

The other day I was trying to take photos of a bird through our bathroom window. I happened to notice movement in our garden, but it’s too far away to make out what it was. I feared it was a ground hog. I zoomed in and started taking photos of what I thought was a baby ground hog. The photos were blurry but still I kept trying. Then the critter started to come further out in the yard and I saw it was a squirrel.  I didn’t recognize the species though. After it disappeared into the woods, I looked it up on the internet and discovered that it’s a Fox Squirrel.  I was so excited. That’s so neat. I didn’t realize we had them around here.

I wanted to share my fox squirrel with you all, so I took the best of the photos of it and tinkered with them in Photoscape. I think they turned out well enough for you to see what a charming critter it is. 🙂

Wishing you all a charming rest of the week.

Here Lizard Lizard – Turkey – Green Onions – Poplar bloom

IMG_0818Yesterday the skinks were out running around the porch. I managed to get a few photos of them; most were blurs. These two photos are the better of the lot. I reckon someday in the near future there will be a tiny skink or two running at lightning speeds across the porch.IMG_0823

IMG_0730This beautiful Turkey hen has been cruising our garden. We figure she has or will soon have a nest of eggs close by.  We enjoy watching baby turkey’s grow from fuzz-balls to full feathered birds.   I’ll post photos of her new poults if she’ll bring them within my camera range.   (A baby turkey is called a poult.)
I took this photo of her through our back storm door window and screen and that’s why it’s so blurry.

IMG_0942I’m happy to report that we got our 1st harvest of green onions out of the garden. My husband ate a few with supper last night.
I’m happy to be getting our own homegrown green onions finally; they’re one of the most delicious ingredients in bruschetta.
(stay tuned and I’ll post my Bruschetta recipe someday soon.)

IMG_0892The Poplar trees are blooming. I wish I could pick some blooms to enjoy in the house a day or two; our poplars are too tall for that. So as my blogging buddy Dianna says, “so thankful for a zoom lens”.z00m

Wishing you all a great rest of the week!
