My New Green Greenhouse

I had to take down and store my small greenhouse. We had it anchored inside with some heavy concrete blocks. Unfortunately, the greenhouse had no way to anchor it on the outside. The wind proved to be mightier than the anchor blocks and toppled it over.
I’m fortunate that the only plants in it was the lettuce and chard. They were bounced around but didn’t get broken or smashed. They’re living happily in our garden now.
I had been planning to replace my small greenhouse with a larger greenhouse with more shelves. I had a new one ordered and was waiting for it to arrive, so it was kind of a help the wind toppling my small one.
We had fun putting the new one together. There’s nothing much more amusing than two old folks figuring out directions on how to assemble a project. lol
The new greenhouse has anchors on each outer corner to tie it down. We’re using concrete blocks on the lowest shelves and around the bottom edge of the cover as extra anchor weight.
I guess I should add in here that meaning of the red ribbons on the tie-downs is that a ‘clumsy old lady owns the greenhouse’ and needs the ribbons to highlight the tie-downs, (so I won’t trip over them whilst going to open/close the windows. lol)
The new greenhouse has 3 windows with hook & loop tape flap closures. You can see them in the different pictures. The windows are blessing to circulate fresh air when needed.
The 3 windows were a defining factor in my choosing this green mesh greenhouse.  Also, the green mesh cover will hopefully help to shade me a bit more than the clear cover would. It might protect the plants by shading them a bit more from the hot rays of the sun.
When I’m going to be in the greenhouse any length of time, I have to have the main door flap open. It presents a problem because of wasps and bugs. I’ve pretty much solved that problem by hanging a curtain I fashioned out of netting. The netting also helps keep more air circulating too.
I’ve got a few trays of seeds planted and hopefully they’ll begin to grow soon.

Nextbook Flexx 8.9 – disappointment

P1010382A couple weeks ago, I bought a Nextbook Flexx 8.9 2-in-1 Tablet. I didn’t really need it, but it had two prime selling points, one was the price of $89.00 and the other was that it has Windows 10. I’d been wanting a tablet with Windows on it because I didn’t have one.   Nextbook Flexx 8.9 has 32 GB of storage, but there’s only around 17.8 GB available after Windows does it’s thing right-off-the-bat. However, I thought that’d be enough since the storage can be expanded with a 64 GB SD card.

I absolutely loved the Nextbook Flexx 8.9, even after it kept updating and only left 12 GB of storage. I figured that was plenty. It was a sweet little device. Using it as a tablet or a mini laptop was fun. I was careful and didn’t put any files on it except for my homepage files which are only 1.2 mb. I used the sd card for photos and stuff.

Over the 13 days that I had it, it continued to update again and again until there was only a little over 8 GB free. I was so mad. I did a factory reset and put it in it’s box and returned it. I’m trying hard not to say something very unladylike about windows. ~stomps foot~

We have a couple Nextbook Ares 7 and we’ve put apps, games, photos, nook books, documents and some other things on them and their storage is holding up just fine; we still have 25 GB free of the original 32 GB after almost a year. That’s one of the biggest differences between the OS of an Android and Windows. Windows greedy os is really a bummer.

I’m sad that Windows started hogging my storage. I’m posting about my negative experience in case someone was in the market for a Nextbook Flexx 8.9, they might want to consider the storage situation.

I really would have loved to have kept the Nextbook Flexx 8.9, but the storage issue is an automatic game changer for me. I wish the 32 GB storage could’ve actually been the true amount and the Windows OS had it’s own storage amount separate from the 32 GB. (That’s the way it should be imo.)

Anyway, I’m glad I tried the Nextbook Flexx 8.9.  I had fun with it for a short while.

Beyond ticked-off – laptop issues

Windows is being hateful this morning. It has my laptop bogged down trying to install a friggin’ update. It’s tried over a half dozen times. I have to restart my laptop every time. I’m so far beyond ticked-off I want to stomp my laptop to pieces.

I’ve looked for solutions and resolutions online and nothing helps. I’ve tried fixes, changed settings and still it won’t install.
The thing that makes me the maddest is the fact that I have no choice in this… I can’t even block the danged thing… it keeps downloading and bogging down my laptop and trying to install… restarts… then the whole cycle starts again…laptopbash

I’m typing this in Notepad I’m going to cut and paste in in a blog entry. I can’t do much of anything online for very long before my browser crashes and my laptop locks up.

It’s iffy if I can even post this. I’m going to try though…
I tried to make a post with my Kindle, but I don’t have the patience for it.
I’m going to blog as much as I can for as long as it will let me.
So if I don’t visit everyone today, know that it’s Windows fault.

I’ll be back when I can…
