Beyond ticked-off – laptop issues

Windows is being hateful this morning. It has my laptop bogged down trying to install a friggin’ update. It’s tried over a half dozen times. I have to restart my laptop every time. I’m so far beyond ticked-off I want to stomp my laptop to pieces.

I’ve looked for solutions and resolutions online and nothing helps. I’ve tried fixes, changed settings and still it won’t install.
The thing that makes me the maddest is the fact that I have no choice in this… I can’t even block the danged thing… it keeps downloading and bogging down my laptop and trying to install… restarts… then the whole cycle starts again…laptopbash

I’m typing this in Notepad I’m going to cut and paste in in a blog entry. I can’t do much of anything online for very long before my browser crashes and my laptop locks up.

It’s iffy if I can even post this. I’m going to try though…
I tried to make a post with my Kindle, but I don’t have the patience for it.
I’m going to blog as much as I can for as long as it will let me.
So if I don’t visit everyone today, know that it’s Windows fault.

I’ll be back when I can…

I hope your week is an awesome one.graphics-rainbow-260262

  1. A computer “guru” told Motor Man to not opt for those updates, but he had the same issue last week: no choice! I know it’s frustrating. Hoping things will be better for you soon!

I’m sorry to hear MM was hit by the same issue that I was, this Windows update must have been something they thought was absolutely necessary whether we wanted it or not. Oh well, at least the issue is resolved for now until next critical update.
Hope you and MM have a great week. 🙂

  2. Have you considered switching to a different operating system? I used Windows for years and hated it (but did not like Apple/Mac either) – between the security issues and forced updates and failed updates rendering the computer useless (as you are experiencing) it was such a pain. Granted I know squat about techy stuff so I couldn’t begin to offer any sort of assistance in the matter, but my uncle set me up with Linux on Ubuntu and I love it! It runs much more smoothly. There are certain programs that won’t work though and require Windows so that is something to keep in mind. You can have it side-loaded on your computer so that you can run either os when needed, which is what my uncle did for me as I do have occasional need for Windows.

Yes, every day of my life I long for a different operating system… especially when I try to use my husband’s desktop with it’s Windows 8.1 os. Horrible program, I absolutely hate it.
My niece has an Apple and loves it. My Grandson has tried an Apple and didn’t like it. My husband’s co-worker has Linux and loves it. He said it didn’t have the issues with viruses that other os has. The compatibility issues was the only down side that he ever mentioned. And like you said, can be resolved with side loading.
Someday, if we ever can afford it, I plan for us to try to get a different os program.
Your Uncle sounds like a peach of a person. I hope you gave him a big hug for making your pc life happier. 😀

I didn’t think of trying to do a restore. That may have worked. I’ll have to keep it in mind for next time because I know there is going to be a next time, Windows can’t stay still for long.
Now that the issues are resolved, maybe my laptop will behave for a week or more. 🙂

  5. I feel your frustration, and want to throw your computer against the wall for you! However – have you tried another operating system instead of Windows? I use Google Chrome and never had any trouble. Hope you get it resolved soon.

Boy wouldn’t that be fun to just smash our pc’s good and proper sometimes. lol
I’ve never tried another os. Hopefully, someday, if we can ever afford it, I plan to try other ones. I tried Google Chrome, I wasn’t real comfortable with it. I use Firefox browser. For the most part it behaves pretty good, unless there’s update afoot. Windows is my nemesis.
Hopefully, my issues are resolved now and I can be a happy blogger for awhile… until next updates at least. 🙂

  6. I hate it when computers act up. We are all so dependent upon them. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you are able to get the issue resolved very soon.

I agree it’s a sorry shame when the devices we’ve become so dependent on won’t behave.
I finally got the issues resolved. Hopefully, I can get be a happy blogger (until next update) 🙂

  7. I had the same issue with my old laptop. I deselected the updates that hung up manually and that worked–then I got a MacBook! I’m lovin’ it, too!

Changing settings helps sometimes. I’m just glad that this wave of issues has passed.
Congrats on the MacBook, I hear they’re a peach. Cool! 🙂
