I was thinking about doing a new cross stitch project. I have plenty of floss and fabric, so no need to buy a kit.
I figured I’d find a pattern and kit-it-out. I’d have it handy to work on through this year. I planned to start on it tonight…
I found a charming pattern and printed it off. I sat down with my oodles of floss and soon discovered that for all my skeins, I was about 25 colors shy. And, in truth the fabric really needs to be blue instead of white.
Well shucks, no kit today…
Part of the joy of making the kit was using my on-hand supplies. I put my supplies away until I decide if and when I want to place a floss and fabric order and try to kit-it-out again.

that’s why I tend to prefer kits these days. No need to worry about ordering in extra supplies.

I 100% agree with you on kits.
However, I’ve some floss I inherited several years ago and of course my own stuff I had on-hand, so I thought I’d try to use some of it.
There’re oodles of patterns out there, so I may use the floss yet. 😊

Partly why I pick sampler projects and projects with motifs. International ordering of kits gets expensive with shipping charges and customs taxes, and is also not 100% guaranteed to reach me.

Hi Anita,
You do beautiful work with the patterns you choose. I, now, understand why you choose the patterns you do. It’d be disheartening to have extra charges on an order with no gurantees of delivery.
About my failed attempt, I was wanting use up some of my floss in my stash and some inherited yarn, otherwise, I would have probably bought a kit if the pattern had offered one.
As it turns out, I’m not going to worry with it because I have a new project to do that I’ll be posting about soon.
