Here’s a brief overview of diamond painting. Unfortunately, this isn’t a tutorial. It’s just a general idea of how it works. There’s oodles of videos and tutorials that better explain the step-by-step process.
Diamond painting is a bit like cross-stitch or paint-by-numbers, except you use resin disks, referred to as diamonds, to fill in the picture instead of floss or paint.
Each color area has a designated character, number or letter. The canvas has adhesive in the working picture depending on if it a partial drill or a full drill. This is a partial drill picture, only the flowers and watering can is to be covered. Other pictures are full drills meaning the entire canvas is to be cover.
I use a pencil shaped applicator that uses a bit of waxy stuff to pick up colorful resin diamonds to apply to the canvas.
If you want a relaxing activity to work on at your own pace and create a fun or pretty piece of artwork. Diamond painting might be for you.
We have found it a bit addictive and always have several kits on hand to feed our diamond painting habit. lol
I hope this brief overview helps explain diamond painting fair enough to give a basic idea of how it’s done.
If you any any questions I’ll try to answer them.
Happy crafting!

it was seeing you and hubster doing diamond painting that got me started a few years ago. I have at least half a dozen kits waiting to be done because I haven’t done any in recent months. Really must get back to it!

Thanks so much Claire,
You gave me a nice smile, knowing you’re still enjoying dp art.
Having several kits on hand is the only way to go. I never know when the mood to dp is going to hit and we’re always ready now. lol
I’ve enjoyed your journey with diamond painting too.
Over Christmas, we were showing our family our portfolio of finished diamond paintings. They all loved it and asked how we decided to store them in the portfolio. I told them about you and your sharing the idea with me (on your blog too). So, thank you extra big bunches for helping to make dp a bit more fun and organized. Have a great rest of the week!😊🖼️

I’ve never tried diamond painting, but if I ever finish the many many projects I have on the go, I might give it a try!
