I finished my ‘Country Apples Afghan’.
It’s a lot prettier in real life.

Country Apples Afghan (Not Blocked)
*couple notes:
-My blanket’s unblocked finished size is 58″ x 44″. That’s 4 inches shorter and 4 inches narrower than the pattern mentions. My blanket might stretch to the pattern’s size if I blocked it or perhaps I should have used a bigger size hook.
-It’s curious that in the photo the cherry red in the edge looks burgundy, it’s the same yarn and color as the apples and checkered blocks.
I’m happy to have my ‘Country Apples Afghan’ finished, but I already miss not having it to work on.
Now, I’m in search of another project to catch my craft-fancy.
Wishing you all a week of pretty days and finished projects.

We ate the ripest four of the tomatoes.
They tasted like sun ripened tomatoes.
Some more of the tomatoes are mostly ripened now too.
When the weather guy announced a high chance of a frost in the forecast, my husband harvested our tomatoes. He left a little of the vine on them as suggested by SalPal on my post
We haven’t tried one yet. You can’t tell it from the photos, but the reddest ones are still bit under-ripe.
I’m one of those folks who believes that apples help keep potatoes from sprouting too quickly. The other day I opened my potato bin to get out some potatoes and was a bit surprised when I saw that the apple had burst open. I picked it up expecting it to be mushy or soft, but it was firmer than a fresh apple and had dried out in the open wound.
I don’t know what variety it was. We’d bought the apples at a small grocery store and didn’t keep the bag.
Over the years, I’ve kept different varieties of apples with my potatoes. They last a long time, after a few weeks I toss them next to the woods for whatever critter may want them. This strange apple bursting open is a first for me. I can’t figure out what happened to it. I think it’s just so odd.
My husband has been reminicing about the homemade apple pies that I used to make. He talked enough to get me wanting an apple pie. I bought a bag of apples and got out my ‘Old Timey Apple Pie’ Recipe. I was particurilarly excited about making a pie because I finally figured out how to make the lattice pie crust and wanted to try it out. It wasn’t as hard to do as I once thought. I used to make the solid pie crust top.
