August Wreath

8-2014-cwotm
My August ‘Wreath of the Month 2014’ is dedicated to the new school year.

In my youth, one of my most favorite parts about a new school year was getting all those wonderful new art/office supplies.
Even today, a purchase of art or office supplies gives me a happy smile. I didn’t grow out of my enjoyment of getting new art/office supplies, perhaps I never will.

Here’s wishing all the students a wonderful school
year filled with bright smiles & happy learning.

I made the wreath base out of newspaper. I crocheted the wreath base cover out of bright yellow yarn.
I sculpted all of the decorations on the wreath out of polymer clay. I made the labels, for my sculpts of colors and glue, in my PhotoImpact program and printed them off onto sticky paper.
Hopefully my August school wreath brings-to-mind thoughts of sunshine and a bright future.

Mid-month July Wreath

IMG_5352I made this mid-month wreath inspired by the summer flowers in bloom.

I made these flowers last March when I was planning my Spring Wreath. I held on to them for later in the year to use on a wreath when the lilies are in bloom.

Wishing you all a beautiful rest of the month.

June Wreath

1-fishwreathMy June ‘2014 Wreath of the Month’ is my most favorite wreath that I’ve ever made.
2-fishwreath*I made the wreath base out of empty water bottles.
*I sculpted the critters, trees, lily-pads,
boat & fisherman out of polymer clay.

*I made a hook out of wire and sculpted a little worm for it.
I used fishing line and hung the worm on the hook
from the fishing pole that I made out of a toothpick.

4-fishwreathI used some shells which my late Grandma in-law gave to me.
I added a bit of salvaged paper raffia for sea-weed.

I had the best time creating, sculpting and decorating this wreath.
It’s a fun wreath and has gotten many compliments.
The men and boys in my family especially like it.

Fishing has always been a big part of my family.
A fishing trip would be an enjoyable way to celebrate Father’s day.

I hope all the Dad’s & caretakers of our children

I used shipping tape to hold them together

Doe, Honeysuckle & Crafts

IMG_1829Looks like there’s going to be a new fawn in the neighborhood in the next few weeks. This doe and a young buck came strolling across our land. I wasn’t fast enough to get a good photo of the young buck, but I did manage to get this fairly good photo of the doe. She’s a really good size deer. I hope she’ll bring her baby by sometime. and I hope I can get photos of it.

IMG_1571Every time I step out of the door I’m greeted with the sweet aroma of honeysuckle. It’s really spread alot more this year than previous years. It must’ve been a perfect winter for it to flourish.

~*~

IMG_084900kI’m trying to make a project using these colors, but so far I have had to salvage two attempts. Sooo, maybe it’ll be 3-times-charm and I’ll actually get my project finished and can share it here soon.

2014-memdayHave you ever finished a craft and as you look at it, you feel like something’s missing. That’s what happened to me with my Memorial day wreath. I like it and thought it was finished. I displayed on my wall and on my blog, but something about it bugged me.
Well, today as I was getting some supplies together for another craft, I had one of those ‘Aha!’ moments and it clicked what was missing on the wreath… it needed gold trim around the roses to make them stand out more.
It alot of work, but I got the trim on.
I updated the photo in the sidebar and the original post .
I’m much happier with it now. I hope it looks better. 🙂

This is all for me at the moment.

Wishing you all a great rest of the week!

Memorial Day Wreath

2014-memdayI made this wreath in honor of our Military for Memorial Day.
It’s a small but sincere effort on my part to show my appreciation to the troops past & present and their families for all they’ve given and still give for us. Their sacrifices are great.

Using polymer clay, I sculpted one rose for each month of the year and the pearl centers are for the tears shed for the troops continual sacrifices 12 months a year.

The wreath base is made from newspapers and covered in camouflage fabric. I covered the base with blocks made on a cardboard loom using camouflage yarn.

Here’s wishing you all an awesome week.
