June Wreath

1-fishwreathMy June ‘2014 Wreath of the Month’ is my most favorite wreath that I’ve ever made.
2-fishwreath*I made the wreath base out of empty water bottles.
*I sculpted the critters, trees, lily-pads,
boat & fisherman out of polymer clay.

*I made a hook out of wire and sculpted a little worm for it.
I used fishing line and hung the worm on the hook
from the fishing pole that I made out of a toothpick.

4-fishwreathI used some shells which my late Grandma in-law gave to me.
I added a bit of salvaged paper raffia for sea-weed.

I had the best time creating, sculpting and decorating this wreath.
It’s a fun wreath and has gotten many compliments.
The men and boys in my family especially like it.

Fishing has always been a big part of my family.
A fishing trip would be an enjoyable way to celebrate Father’s day.

Here’s why I’m making a ‘Wreath of the Month’ for every month of 2014.

Here’s a photo of the way I made the wreath base out of empty plastic water bottles.
I used shipping tape to hold them together

Doe, Honeysuckle & Crafts

IMG_1829Looks like there’s going to be a new fawn in the neighborhood in the next few weeks. This doe and a young buck came strolling across our land. I wasn’t fast enough to get a good photo of the young buck, but I did manage to get this fairly good photo of the doe. She’s a really good size deer. I hope she’ll bring her baby by sometime. and I hope I can get photos of it.

IMG_1571Every time I step out of the door I’m greeted with the sweet aroma of honeysuckle. It’s really spread alot more this year than previous years. It must’ve been a perfect winter for it to flourish.

IMG_084900kI’m trying to make a project using these colors, but so far I have had to salvage two attempts. Sooo, maybe it’ll be 3-times-charm and I’ll actually get my project finished and can share it here soon.

2014-memdayHave you ever finished a craft and as you look at it, you feel like something’s missing. That’s what happened to me with my Memorial day wreath. I like it and thought it was finished. I displayed on my wall and on my blog, but something about it bugged me.
Well, today as I was getting some supplies together for another craft, I had one of those ‘Aha!’ moments and it clicked what was missing on the wreath… it needed gold trim around the roses to make them stand out more.
It alot of work, but I got the trim on.
I updated the photo in the sidebar and the original post .
I’m much happier with it now. I hope it looks better. 🙂

This is all for me at the moment.

Wishing you all a great rest of the week!

Foxy Wildlife Wednesday

The other day I was trying to take photos of a bird through our bathroom window. I happened to notice movement in our garden, but it’s too far away to make out what it was. I feared it was a ground hog. I zoomed in and started taking photos of what I thought was a baby ground hog. The photos were blurry but still I kept trying. Then the critter started to come further out in the yard and I saw it was a squirrel.  I didn’t recognize the species though. After it disappeared into the woods, I looked it up on the internet and discovered that it’s a Fox Squirrel.  I was so excited. That’s so neat. I didn’t realize we had them around here.

I wanted to share my fox squirrel with you all, so I took the best of the photos of it and tinkered with them in Photoscape. I think they turned out well enough for you to see what a charming critter it is. 🙂

Wishing you all a charming rest of the week.
