I figure what better way to start off a Random Friday Five than with Shelibean. I wanted a new photo of Sheli to post here, but he was having none of it. I scooped him up and sat him on an old table outside and still he wouldn’t cooperate. This was the only photo out of a half dozen that was even recognizable. It’s like he knows if he moves his head it blurs the photo. Apparently Sheli loves being a lap-landing-ornament but he ain’t gonna be nobody’s super model.
My husband’s flower bed is looking wonderful. It’s so pretty in real life.
Our Gerber daisies never have had a chance to flourish because something keeps cutting them down.
I was happy when I found this one with a bloom and a ladybug. I figure the bloom won’t be there much longer. It’s either rabbits or squirrels that cuts our Gerber daisies down. Nope it’s not a cutting worm. Want to know how I know it’s not a cutting worm? Because cutting worms don’t leave foot prints in the dirt and they don’t scatter the leaves and stems. lol
The walnuts are falling, which means that Autumn is soon to be here putting the land to bed getting ready for the long winter’s sleep. We don’t ever harvest the walnuts, we leave them for the squirrels to eat and bury all over the yard.
I’ve been working a bit on burlap decor. I’ve decided it needs some color. Instead of buying colored burlap I dyed it with coffee and kool-aid. I’m pleased as peaches with the results.
While I’m discussing burlap, here’s a little stuffed heart I made that may end up on my new wreath. I’m quite pleased with the way it looks and I wanted to show it off. 😉

These flowers are ornamental Tiger Lilies and precious heirlooms to me. They came from seeds that my Mom gave me a couple decades ago from her own ornamental lilies. Mom’s ornamental lilies came from seeds given to her by her Mom from her ornamental tiger lilies. As close as I can figure, this line of ornamental tiger lilies has been in my family for probably 90 years or more.
I’m always anxious each year waiting for the bright orange blooms to burst into full color. It makes me smile to see these living beauties of love from my Mom and Grandmother.
I made this mid-month wreath inspired by the summer flowers in bloom.
We had another good harvest of squash and beans. I figure we’ll get one more squash harvest about half this size. Right now I have more squash than Carter’s 
As for the beans, we put up a couple dozen quarts. We have enough to do through the winter. We don’t plan on picking any more beans. We figure it’d be stupid to let the plants stay and get completely infested with bean beetles, so my husband pulled up all the bean plants and tossed them away.
My dahlias are blooming real pretty.
If you look to the left of the dahlias you can see a volunteer cherry tomato plant. It already has several tomatoes on it. I can hardly wait for them ripen.

You’ll notice that there’s sparse spots where the Gerber daisies are. The rabbits and squirrels have been hard on them.
On a final note, our walnut tree is loaded with walnuts. It looks like it’s going to be a bumper crop year. We don’t use the walnuts for anything, but it’s still a joy to watch them grow. We leave them for the squirrels to eat or store for the winter. There’s been many times we’ve watched 
Our Birthday Boy spent most of the weekend playing and napping with his new toy. Turning 2 must’ve wore him out. lol Shelibean is such a cutie-pie when he’s napping. 😉
