SheliBean hates pumpkin

P1050649I took this photo of Shelibean when he was relaxing after having a ruff (sic) day. He doesn’t do well with storms and it had stormed for better part of the day.

Sometimes being so upset causes Sheli to have an upset tummy. Pumpkin was always my first choice to settle a dog’s tummy… until Sheli… When Sheli was a puppy I’d try to get him to eat a little pumpkin to settle his tummy and he would have no part of it.

My husband and I discussed it and decided that since Sheli is now an adult dog, he may be more incline to eat pumpkin. I opened the can and dipped out a half teaspoon. My husband tried to give it to him, but Sheli physically turned his nose up at it and put it on ignore.
I tried to give some to him by taking little dabs of the canned pumpkin on my finger and letting him lick it off. That worked for about 1/4 teaspoon and then he refused to take another bite.

I was hopeful that since he’s not very big, that maybe the little bit he ate would help. Thankfully he didn’t have anymore tummy issues.

All the dogs we’ve had in decades past would eat pumpkin like it was sauteed steak.
I’m glad Sheli is a hardy boy and we haven’t had to worry too much about his health.

Does your pets like to eat pumpkin?
Do you use pumpkin for your pets tummy issues?

Wishing for all your pets to be healthy and happy.

Five For Friday – hummingbird – carrots – garden news- my clutch pattern

8-18-2016-hummingbirdThere’s an adorable little round hummingbird feeding at our feeders. We’re guessing it may be a baby girl. It sure is cute.

20160819_095857I harvested the rest of the carrots. There wasn’t many. Just enough to freeze for one cooking of a winter soup. Now, when the cold of winter comes knocking, I’m prepared for the first soup of the year made with mostly homegrown ingredients. As delicious as it sounds, I’m not in any hurry to make it though. 😉

P1050128My husband mowed the garden down last weekend. Now it’ll rest until we decide to put in a garden  again somedayP1050024My herb garden hasn’t faired well during the dog days of Summer. The herb garden’s so dry that I doubt any of the herbs survive. Only the rosemarys are hanging on with any sort of chance. I’m especially hoping my ‘Madeline Hill Rosemary’ survives the winter and comes back strong next year. It’s special to me because my Brother sent it to me. If the herbs all die out and don’t come back next Spring, I’ll most likely just plant some annual flowers in the little garden bed. That may be pretty. We’ll see…

00-protoclutchI had enough luck making my clutch/wallet by the McCall’s pattern that I was inspired to make my own version of the pattern. I’m changing up some things like the size, amount of dividers and how it goes together. This is my first try, a proto-type. It didn’t turn out like I wanted. It’s warped and misshapen, However, I learned a thing or two about what I need to do to make the next one better. That’s the creating process.

I hope you all had a wonderful gardening season and your flowers, vegetables or herbs were a success.

Have a great weekend!

No-Filter Friday – Precious

My blogging buddy CherryWillow has started doing a ‘No-Filter Friday’ She’s planning on posting photos on Fridays that she took that have only ‘sizing and adding a copyright’ being the only editing/filtering done to them.

I probably won’t join in every Friday. I get busy and sidetracked and can’t get a post made. But for today, I’ve decided to join in on the fun.

I’m sharing one of my most favorite photos that I took many years ago.
I sized it down and put my copyright on it using PhotoScape.

I call this photo ‘Precious’P5100085Precious has great camouflage without even trying.

Wishing you all a fun-filled Friday!

Fine Feathered Banana

pml-2016This collage photo is compliments of my BFF.  This is her parakeet, Banana.
BFF grows herbs for Banana to keep him healthy and happy. Usually she’ll put the herbs in his cage, but the other day she had an idea to put him on a stand next to a basil plant. Oh what a jolly good time Banana had snacking on the plant.

Thank you BFF for sharing your collage of sweet little Banana, he’s is adorable.

Wishing you all a jolly good day.
